Jan Jach Gałek is a renowned craftsman-artist, recognized both in Poland and internationally. The objects he has restored—especially furniture and safes—can be found in antique shops and private collections not only in Poland, but also in Western Europe, Russia, and the United States. He inherited knowledge passed down through generations, learning in the workshop of his father, Kazimierz, a well-known woodcarver and restorer of historic objects.

In his work, he revives the techniques of old master craftsmen, for example, using beer glaze in the painted, stylized Lower Silesian furniture he creates. He is also passionate about photography, which he uses to document the historical and cultural heritage of the region in a unique, artistic way. He archives historic monuments using modern technologies, and his digital archive is one of the largest collections of 3D models of Lower Silesian monuments.

The “Save from Oblivion” Foundation, established by Jan Jach Gałek, organizes, among other things, workshops with a historical background, where he shares knowledge about old, forgotten craft techniques and promotes the region’s cultural heritage.
